According to Meta's latest quarterly report, Facebook boasts an impressive user base of over 3 billion monthly active users, a staggering figure that solidifies its position as a dominant force in the social media landscape. Despite a decline in popularity among younger demographics, Facebook remains far from being obsolete. In fact, when considering the entire Meta family of apps, which includes WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and the recently introduced Threads, the cumulative monthly active users amount to a remarkable 3.88 billion, nearly half of the world's population.
While milestones are cause for celebration, the growth of daily active users holds particular significance for Meta and its investors. Facebook's daily active users have reached 2.064 billion, marking an increase from the previous quarter's 2.037 billion. This growth is crucial as it follows a concerning trend: in the final quarter of 2021, Facebook experienced its first-ever quarterly decline in daily active users.
A contributing factor to this renewed growth may be the implementation of Reels, Meta's answer to TikTok, which the company has been heavily promoting across Instagram and Facebook. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that Reels now amass a staggering 200 billion plays per day across the family of apps.
Moreover, the newly introduced text-based social platform, Threads, linked with Instagram, has shown promising performance. Zuckerberg expressed enthusiasm about the platform's future, touting an exciting roadmap ahead.
Threads achieved a significant milestone by accumulating 100 million users within merely five days of its launch. While not all users may become dedicated posters, Zuckerberg's recent statement that "10s of millions of people come back daily" underscores the platform's impressive engagement levels.
The continuous growth in user activity signals positive momentum for Meta, marking a shift from previous concerns about revenue declines. With an ever-evolving suite of apps and features, Meta appears poised for further success and user engagement in the foreseeable future.
